This
collection of poetry by the author of the novel Maledetti
(The Forsaken) is clear and forthright. It is
an invaluable help in many ways to those who will find in it the
essence of our being - that high being which from the beginning is
our destiny. In offering assistance to those souls who wish to
rise upon the promised land, Michael Gualtieri follows in the
footsteps of such poets as the Psalmists, Dante and Blake.
About Michael Gualtieri
Michael Gualtieri is an Italian-born proud Canadian. He grew up
playing baseball and finds soccer incomprehensible - a serious
fault in an Italian. He is temperamental and volatile - a serious
fault in a Canadian.
He confesses that nothing about his externalities is more than a
random collection of events foisted upon him in his helplessness.
He lives in a remote part of the Canadian Shield without
television or a daily paper.

He has been cavalier enough to try his hand at many things
including pioneering on a 500- acre homestead. This entailed
endless physical work and risks - should you ever count the bugs
of summer you will feel the risk.
None of these activities matter to him. "They are really just
a noise," he complains. Only for his poetry does he stand,
which he categorizes as "a few sparks in this all-too-long
night".
Michael Gualtieri reiterates the sentiment of Francesco Petrarch,
who states that, "You will find on that road small company,
gentle spirit/therefore I pray and ask/do not desert your
magnanimous task."
